2015-10-31 Win no.8! DOING IT FOR DAN wins the Golden Loom Handicap at Turffontein, following up on the win in the same race for us last year by Trip Tease. As emotional as it was for us last year, it was the same again this time as we did it for Anthony Maroun, brother of the late Buddy Maroun and also for Anthony’s son Kaden. Anthony Delpech rode Dan to perfection, content to sit several lengths of the pace and then produce a pounding finish to win going away. Doing it for Dan was bred by Highlands Stud whose produce always do so very well and especially for us in terms of percentages. Our thanks to the Maroun family for their valuable support and congrats to our super team at home.

DOING IT FOR DAN lost many lengths at the jump and then pulled off an incredible winning finish from the clouds to beat stable companion TRIP TEASE in the listed Hampton Handicap at The Vaal. 2015-08-06 DOING IT FOR DAN posts another impressive performance comfortably accounting for his rivals with a sustained gallop to the line under jockey Pierre Strydom. This win was the best early birthday present that we could give his young passionate Owner Kaden Maroun who turns 12 years old tomorrow. DOING IT FOR DAN will now be aimed at the Hampton Handicap at end of September on SAP’s Supreme Cup Day.

2015-06-16 DOING IT FOR DAN notched up his 5th career win on Tuesday 16th June 2015 at Turffontein in a Pinnacle Plate over 1100m. The 3 year old son of Windrush boasts a career record of 5 wins, 4 seconds, 3 thirds and 3 fourths from 16 runs. Another good sort purchased by LGRS from top Breeders Highlands Stud, Doing It For Dan is owned by Anthony Maroun, for his son Kaden. The youngster is a third generation Maroun in horse racing. Kaden’s passion for the thoroughbred racehorse is an inspiration to us all and constantly reminds us of why we love working with horses. In the saddle, Piere Strydom has no equals. His bonding with the horses he rides remains an art and his ride on Doing It For Dan was sublime. Doing It For Dan will now have an easy Winter and will be aimed at the Highveld Feature Races in Summer.
